Vision
cimcima. views design as a communicative process, as a dialogue between object and person, guided by individual needs such as flexibility and simplicity. cimcima’s vision is to fill spaces with a vibrant and dynamic aesthetic, and to place the hybrid nature of design objects at the centre. By reducing everything to the essentials and employing intelligent design, the result is functional and beautiful objects whose use is not definitively predetermined, but is intended to remain open to new and individual interpretations time and again.
Designer
Simon Junge is an architect, product designer and lighting designer. He studied at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts and the Berlin University of the Arts, graduating with a degree in architecture in 2008. Even whilst still a student, he worked at renowned firms such as Ulrike Brandi Licht’s lighting design studio in Hamburg and the architectural practice of Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue in Barcelona. From 2008 to 2010, he established a branch in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for the German architectural firm Peter Werner Schmidt, together with two other architects. Since 2010, he has been living and working as a freelance designer, architect and lighting designer in Berlin, and founded the design label cimcima in 2012. Since 2020, Simon has been working as a Senior Associate, acting as team and project lead for the renowned design studio Lichtvision Design in Berlin, and is responsible, among other things, for implementing the lighting design in the public areas of the Pergamon Museum in Berlin.

cimcima. relies on close collaboration with workshops for people with disabilities and small and medium-sized craft businesses in its manufacturing processes, with the aim of supporting the regional economy and maintaining close ties with the manufacturing sector. In our co-working space with a prototyping workshop at Baufertigladen in Berlin Moabit, we bring together exchange and collaboration with freelancers from a wide range of sectors within the creative industries in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
