Modern Antiquity

The exhibition ‘Winckelmann. Modern Antiquity’ was a comprehensive anniversary exhibition on the life and influence of the important art historian and archaeologist Johann Joachim Winckelmann, which was on display at the Neues Museum Weimar from 7 April to 2 July 2017. It was conceived by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar in collaboration with Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and celebrated the 300th anniversary of Winckelmann’s birth.
